War – what is it good for? Having a wee snooze is what…

A little while ago we got war decc’d. Right in the middle of the holidays. Not a good time to be honest with you for the majority of us. By all indications it was a opportunistic POS shoot.

The tower had been offline for a while as it hadn’t been needed, and I hadn’t removed the labs. Which is what I’d guessed were really the target in the hopes they may drop some goodies. Not that we keep anything overly valuable in them in any case.

Was a wee bit lucky to check EvEmon when I did as there was still about 16 hours to go before it went live. Polled my corpmates, and people were spread far and wide for the holidays… i.e no one really wanted the fight.

So, onlined the POS and defenses, yoinked the labs and added yet more defenses and hardeners. I have to say I REALLY like the changes to the T1 frigates for repping purposes, because between the basilisks and the (p)ospreys we had the shield to 99% in remarkably short order.

And then…. We bored them into submission.

Got an EvEmail a little over a week after offering a surrender, which after a day or two and some debate, we accepted.

Now, I’m really not entirely sure what a corporation whose kills are mainly in null in an entirely different TZ were expecting, but we didn’t see them in local for a number of systems in any direction. Good fights are hard to come by when we’re asleep… just saying, ya know?

So… war for the new year, even though it’s now over. Just hoping it’s not a sign of things to come.
