The Nature of Revenge

April 28, 2010

“Ah Kirk, my old friend. Do you know the Klingon proveb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold? It is very cold in space.”

If there is one thing that all of us remember, it would have to be our first podding. And I remember mine, oh yes indeed. Getting close to nearly two year ago now as a rookie pilot with the Science and Trade Institue. The name of the pilot? Kale Kold of the Vicious Little Killers and of course a couple of his mighty friends. Because, oh no, we wouldn’t want a fair fight, not against a noob now would we?

The very same Kale Kold who is putting his hand up for the latest CSM.

Would I vote for this “gentleman”? No.

Sure I had a pretty serious emoment and good old fashioned rant in corp channel. I expect most people would on their first podding. Looking back, what did disturb me was a very similarly named person pops up in the corp channel who proceeds to feed the anger… and presumably lap up the resultant “tears”.

Would I vote for this “gentleman” or indeed any person exhibiting this kind of behaviour? Not if you paid me.

I’m a pretty patient kind of guy. I can jump 56 systems through hostile territory alone. I can spend hours watching a system, catologuing people and ship types coming and going,  surveying enemy POSes and fleet make up. If you want raw intel I can provide it. PvP doesn’t really come naturally to me and I don’t like to pod kill. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. In times or war, sure, or if someone has agressed you, but to do it for your jollies? No. Period.

It leaves me pondering the nature of revenge. Lets be absolutely clear on one thing though. We’re talking in game here. A bounty doesn’t seem… adequate. I haven’t really got the time in game to go hunting this “individual” and I don’t wish to drag my corpmates or alliance into any kind of feud.

So, I’m chucking this challenge out there. What do the more deviously minded have to suggest?
